Tecoma Stans

A large forest tree of the pea family with brown, flaking bark and finely divided bipinnate leaves. It bears white, head-like powder-puff flowers between February and May, followed by pods that turn red when ripe. In Costa Rica it is widespread on the Pacific slope and is often planted as an ornamental, though wild trees are now scarce.
