A small tree in the wood-sorrel family grown for its ribbed yellow fruit, which shows a five-pointed star when sliced across. The compound leaves have 5 to 12 leaflets, and small pink to lavender flowers are followed by waxy-skinned fruits with crisp, juicy, translucent flesh. Trees can crop within their first year or two and a mature tree can carry well over 100 kg of fruit.
