A box-type eucalypt of the grassy woodlands of south-eastern Australia, with grey, whitish-patched bark that is fibrous and flaky on the lower trunk. It has been introduced to California, the Canary Islands, China and East Africa, and is grown for its round, dull grey-green to blue-white juvenile leaves, which give way to narrower grey-green adult leaves. Flowers are borne in clusters of seven.
