Red Bougainvillea

Bougainvillea is a vigorous, thorny, scrambling woody vine of the four-o'clock family. Its true flowers are small cream tubes, three to a cluster, but each cluster is surrounded by three to six papery, brightly coloured bracts, in this case red, which give the plant its display and its name of paper flower. It blooms almost continuously in warm climates and tolerates drought, heat and salt.
