A slow-growing evergreen tree with a pyramidal crown and thick, glossy, opposite leaves, called the queen of tropical fruit for the taste of its fruit. The round, dark purple fruit keeps its green calyx and opens to reveal white, juicy segments arranged like a peeled mandarin. Seedlings can take 10 to 15 years to flower, and because the seeds are apomictic every seedling is genetically identical to its parent.
