Jorco Amarillo

A medium to large deciduous African tree of seasonally dry woodland, with an erect trunk, a rounded crown and compound leaves crowded at the ends of the branches. Male and female flowers are borne on separate trees, and the female trees drop green fruits that turn yellow on the ground. The fruit is eaten fresh or made into jelly and beer, the white kernel of the nut is highly nutritious, and in Venda it was once a criminal offence to cut down a living marula.
