Purple allamanda is a scrambling evergreen shrub or vine with bristly-haired twining stems and whorls of hairy elliptic leaves. It flowers year-round on new growth, producing funnel-shaped blooms of purplish pink to violet with a yellowish throat, each 5–8 cm across. It is grown on trellises and pergolas or as a sprawling groundcover, and attracts bees and butterflies.
