Granadilla

A vigorous woody-based climber that ascends by tendrils and bears broadly heart-shaped, conspicuously veined leaves. Its sweet, musky-scented flowers are up to 10 cm across and are followed by smooth, hard-shelled, orange-yellow fruit with white specks, whose aromatic pulp and seeds are eaten out of hand with a spoon. Unlike the common passion fruit it is a plant of cool highlands and does not tolerate heat.
