Golden dewdrops

Golden dewdrop is a fast-growing, sprawling evergreen shrub or small tree of the verbena family, with drooping branches that carry paired spines. Sprays of small tubular flowers in light blue, violet or white appear from summer into autumn and are followed by long trailing clusters of glossy orange-yellow berries, the 'golden dewdrops', which often hang on the plant alongside the flowers. Bees, butterflies and hummingbirds visit the flowers and birds eat the berries, but the fruit and leaves are poisonous to people and pets.
