Moringa is a fast-growing, much-branched, rather crooked small tree with corky bark and feathery bipinnate leaves. It bears clusters of fragrant white flowers followed by long, ribbed, three-angled pods, the 'drumsticks' eaten in curries. Almost every part of the tree is used: the leaves as a spinach-like vegetable, the seeds for oil, and the shredded roots as a horseradish-like condiment.
