AlsoGebang palm, Buri palm
A massive solitary fan palm with a thick trunk and huge circular leaves several metres across. It is monocarpic: after 30 to 80 years of growth it sends up an enormous terminal flower spike carrying millions of tiny flowers, sets fruit, and then dies. It is one of the largest-leaved and largest-flowered of all palms.
