A tree of the wet tropics in the fig and mulberry family, closely related to breadfruit (some of its synonyms were once treated as varieties of Artocarpus altilis). It is native to Maluku and New Guinea, from where it was introduced to the Philippines, and is assessed as Near Threatened in the wild.
