Brazilian Fire Tree

A fast-growing pioneer tree of wet tropical forest that can reach 35 m in its native rainforest. Young trees are typically unbranched and topped by a fern-like crown of enormous pinnately compound leaves up to 1 m long, said to be among the largest compound leaves in the plant kingdom. The leaves drop before flowering, and golden yellow flowers are then produced in racemes on the bare branches.
